Challenge: Power Management
Overview
Power management systems (PMS) on modern ships are critical for ensuring reliable and efficient operation of all electrical and propulsion systems. As maritime vessels increasingly adopt digital technologies and automation, these systems are becoming more interconnected and vulnerable to cyber threats. A successful cyberattack on a ship’s power management system can have serious operational, economic, environmental, and safety consequences.
Objectives
- Understand the different types of Power Management Attacks.
- Learn to recognize the signs of Power Management Attacks.
- Develop strategies to recognization and mitigation.
Instructions
- Understand different power management attacks situations at sea and in the ports.
- Develop action plan.
- Learn to cooperate with different stakeholders (IT, department, port authorities, customs, terminal operators).

Outcome
By completing this challenge, you will gain a solid understanding of what attacks can be done on the power management systems, the different types of attacks, how to recognize it, and the key strategies and steps to effectively respond and prevent it.
